Bronx Zoo trip
July 4th 2001
(corresponding blog here)
Chrome, neon, bakelite and a hangover the size of Ellis Island,
all crammed into a diner on 34th Street - the perfect way to start
the day.

Caught the subway out to The Bronx and headed for the zoo, zoo,
zoo, why don't you come too, too, too? Ahem.

Awwww! See the ickle monkey! Marvel at his compactness and cuteness!
Or you could try poking him with branches pulled from nearby trees!
If you were some kind of freaking
moron, that is.

The peacocks were spectacular. And not even that cocky, either.

I've already forgotten exactly what this small, sleeping, bear-like
thing actually was. I think the main thing, though, was that it
was something that slept a lot. Sleeping definitely featured big.

This, on the other hand, this I know exactly what it is: it's
a supercool hanging monkey. An awesome one-handed, fifteen-metres-above-the-ground,
swinging-through-the-treetops-action kind of supercool hanging
monkey, to be technically precise.

Morgan may not be a supercool hanging monkey, but she proves
conclusively here that she is a supercool posing homo sapiens.
Such confidence in one with no thumbs is rare.

It's hard to look amused and disparaging at the same time, but
Bethany pulls it off with aplomb; her skills are legion.
